CHARLOTTE, NC – September 11, 2024— Capitala Group (“Capitala”) is pleased to announce the sale of its portfolio company, Proactive Dealer Solutions (“Proactive” or the “Company”) to Better Car People (“BCP”), a leading provider of omnichannel engagement solutions in the automotive dealership industry.
Proactive, a veteran-owned business based out of Huntersville, NC, provides integrated SaaS and consulting services, primarily to consumer automotive dealerships. The union combines BCP’s lead engagement platform, generative AI for SMS/Email, and best-in-class BDC operations with Proactive’s Brooke AI Digital Voice Assistant, BDC technology, and in-store retail performance consulting and training. The result is a combined platform offering cutting-edge solutions, with enhanced consumer engagement capabilities, for automotive retailers.
Capitala served as the lead investor in the initial investment in Proactive and helped source the strategic buyer for exit. The investment made in 2020 from Fund IV generated a 4.31x MOIC on its equity investment and an 82% IRR, helping the Company reach an enterprise value of $110 million at exit.
Capitala provided value added leadership to Proactive by going beyond the capital and assisting with creating the optimal mix of expertise and performance throughout the company structure to accelerate growth.
