
Bryan recently retired from a 43-year career in commercial banking, which included founding Park Sterling Bank, which was the largest capitalized start up in North Carolina history.
Bryan’s commercial banking experience includes being a commercial banker at NCNB (now Bank of America), a commercial banker at First Charlotte Bank, and helped start Park Meridian Bank, which was sold to Regions Bank in 2001. At that point, he was named North Carolina Market President for Regions, and spearheaded their expansion into three other North Carolina markets. In 2006, he founded Park Sterling Bank, which was sold to SouthState Bank in 2017. Upon that sale, he became the Northern Banking Group President for SouthState, running North Carolina and Virginia, and was a member of the bank’s Operating Committee.
Bryan hold’s a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia, a MBA from the University of North Carolina, where he was a Dean’s Scholar (top 5% of graduating class), and is an Honors graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
In addition, Bryan has public company experience as the Lead Independent Director of the Cato Corporation, a NYSE traded women’s retailer where he has been on the Board since 2009.He was also on the Board and Executive Committee of Park Sterling Bank.
Bryan also has been involved in many Charlotte area non-profits, including Board Chair of Hospice and Palliative Care-Charlotte Region.
